“In Vacanza nei Parchi” (On Vacation in the Parks) is a tourist promotion project funded by Fondazione Telecom and sponsored by a
partnership made up of the
Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Lucano Val d’Agri-Lagonegrese (Appennino Lucano - Val d’Agri - Lagonegrese National Park),
Parco Nazionale della Sila (Sila National Park) and the NPO
Legambiente Basilicata Onlus (Basilicata Environmental Association, an NPO), that provides the
www.invacanzaneiparchi.it), allowing potential visitors, including those using computer devices (PCs, mobile phones etc.), to “build” their own vacation in the Park with a few simple clicks and a single payment (inclusive of accommodation, activities, tours, etc.), with guaranteed enjoyment of quality facilities.
Both Parks, the Sila and the Appennino Lucano - Val d'Agri - Lagonegrese, are important links in the chain of protection of biodiversity in the protected areas of the southern Apennines, and play a strategic role in the APE project - Appennino Parco d'Europa (Apennines - Park of Europe) - which envisions the Apennines as a single system from an environmental, economic and social perspective.
"In Vacanza nei Parchi" is an opportunity to promote and improve the range of the tourist attractions in the two Parks, boosting quality nature tourism through the creation of a network, the NTL (Network Turistico Locale - Local Tourism Network), of all operators and providers of tourism-related services who meet the criteria of environmental sustainability of supply, and who will be included in the online portal that gives visitors the opportunity to custom build their vacations.
Essentially the portal functions as an online tour operator, created specifically to promote and improve the range of tourist attractions within the areas of the two Parks, and it is also a model that can be replicated in similar contexts in other protected areas.
The quality of the proposed services and offerings is audited and certified using shared operational protocols with which operators participating in the Network comply, specifically by signing a Regolamento della Qualità Ambientale (RQA) (Environmental Quality Regulation), which must be strictly observed.
The Local Tourism Network (NTL) is therefore a set of facilities or businesses that offer sustainable, quality services within the two protected areas, and is made up of accommodation and wine and food tourism operators, recreational and leisure services operators, enterprises engaged in the production and/or marketing of local products (including those that are certified), local arts and crafts operators, and tour operators responsible for the organization and conducting of package tours and organized travel.
To guarantee compliance with the RQA, the quality of service provided is subject to periodic audits; in addition, membership of the NTL is confirmed by the displaying of the project logo by the member operators recognized by the Parks.
